- Help to Buy: The Help to Buy scheme is no longer available in most parts of the UK, but the Welsh version can still be applied for until March 2025. Mortgage interest rates for borrowers buying new build properties can be slightly higher as lenders generally consider them higher risk. This is because of the uncertainty around whether the lender can recoup their debt in the event of a repossession and resale.
